What Mask Do You Wear?
Just like we have all created this picture of who we think God is we all have created different masks that we wear so that people will like us and will accept us. Underneath our masks we are broken. We want to look like the one with the strong emotional side so we put on the mask of never being hurt before. We put on the mask of success so that no one would ever know that we have failed. Some of us wear a mask of belonging so we can become like a chameleon and turn into whatever the crowd looks like around us so that we are accepted and not left out. We put on the mask of religion so that we can look good on the outside when really we are working our way right into a self-righteous way to God.
Putting on Jesus: What Not to Wear
We have become very well adjusted to our culture around us. In fact it is hard to tell the difference between a follower of Jesus and one who is not.
Everyday we spend hours on our outward appearance making sure our hair is just right and our make up done. We try to keep up with the latest fashion and styles so we can fit in.
But what are we putting on in the inside? How are we preparing our inner self? Is our inner self as beautiful as our outer self?
We need one thing before we start each day and that is Jesus! Let's learn how to clothe ourselves in Jesus! Romans 13:14 Rather clothe yourselves with the Lord Jesus Christ, and do not think about how to gratify the desires of the sinful nature.
My Testimony
God is good, even when we are not! I spent most of my life running from a BIG MEAN SCARY GOD that I thought was waiting to punish me for all that I had done wrong. But in the darkest time in my life, when I made a decision that would change my life forever He came into my life and showed me who He truly is and that He is a God of love, mercy and grace. His Mercies are new every morning!
Come Just As You Are
Anyone can come to Jesus! He wants you to come just as you are and He will do the rest! He only needs your heart and a little faith.
We will take a look at three women from scripture and how they came to Jesus just as they were but when they left they would never be the same!
Return To Me
During the retreat we will take a look at our own walk with God. We will take the time searching our hearts to see where we have allowed areas in our heart to wander away from God. We often spend a lot of time learning from other people how to get right with God. I believe the best way to get right with God is to spend some time being still and knowing He is God. When we take the time to sit with the Lord, He can and will reveal the areas in our lives that need His attention.
We will together get into the Word and look at some ordinary people that learned how to walk in complete surrender to and with the Lord.
My prayer is that you will leave this retreat feeling complete in Him, ready to live everyday offering your life as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to Him.
